Permissions and roles

Why each Discord permission is needed and how hierarchy affects modules.

Last updated: 17 July 2026

Invite permissions

  • View Channels, Send Messages and Read Message History
  • Manage Messages for Clear and Auto-Delete
  • Manage Channels for tickets and TempVoice
  • Manage Roles for role assignment and channel overwrites
  • Move Members for Join-to-Create
  • Embed Links and Attach Files for rich messages and transcripts

Role hierarchy

Move the Byterider role above every auto role, level role and team role it should manage. Administrator is not requested and would not bypass hierarchy anyway.

When a module does not react

  • Welcome and Goodbye: check View Channel, Send Messages and Embed Links in the target channel.
  • Tickets: check Manage Channels, Manage Roles, Read Message History and sending permissions.
  • Clear and Auto-Delete: check Manage Messages in the affected channel.
  • TempVoice: check Manage Channels and Move Members in the creator channel and target category.
  • Auto roles and level roles: move the Byterider role above the target role.
